Swasthya Yoga's Instructor at Celebrity Fitness

Well, on August 2008 there was a new yoga class, it’s Swasthya Yoga class and the instructor name is Chandra. I thought Chandra is the new yoga instructor, I don’t know that Chandra wasn’t new at all. She came to Jakarta 4 years ago but then moved to Surabaya for 2 years and went back to Jakarta again on August last year. I thought Chandra is a he but when I peeked at her class….OMG she’s so cute with her long hair and small posture. I joined her class the next week until now. She’s teaching Swasthya Yoga which is new to me. I also realized that Swasthya Yoga has no Sun Salutation movement, which is good because I’m not too into it anyway. Chandra told us that Swasthya Yoga has no Sun Salutation because Swasthya Yoga is ancient yoga, so this kind of yoga already exists before popular yoga like Hatha Yoga, Jaganatha, Ashtanga, etc. Makes me curious about its history, so I googled it and since Chandra is from Brazil, I think this is the link that match. In Brazil, Swasthya Yoga was introduced 4 decades ago by DeRose. Maybe she even know the people in the link. I also found a blog by Marcello Oliveira ( I wonder if he’s a Brazilian too ) that explains everything about Swasthya Yoga, I think his blog is very very thorough. I should ask Chandra to read it, because I’m stuck at the 58 Pranayamas. Actually I want to write about Swasthya Yoga history and poses but considering there’s 58 Pranayamas and other rather complicated explanation, well just click and read would be more efficient. The point is Swasthya Yoga is the only ( I repeat…the only ) yoga in the world that has eight angas, or parts…meaning the most complete. Maybe that’s why in every Swasthya Yoga class, the poses or the movements are almost different every week ( I thought Chandra do that poses and movements so that we’ve never got bored…lol ). And all of those poses and movements couldn’t be done in one hour class. I think it’s great that Celebrity Fitness has Swasthya Yoga class.
